How to Port Jio from Airtel/ VI/ BSNL?
Jio port from any telecom operator is easy and quick. Here are the two basic methods and steps you need to know for porting your Sim to Jio.
SMS Method
Step 1: On your mobile phone, open the messaging app and type ‘PORT’ <space> “Your Phone Number”, and send it to 1900.
(Remember, the word “PORT” is case-sensitive. Thus, it should always be in block letters only.)
Step 2: As soon as you’ll send the SMS to 1900, you’ll receive an SMS back from the number 1901. This message will contain the Unique Porting Code (UPC) for your mobile number.
(Save the UPC on your phone, as it will be needed during the verification process.)
Step 3: Now, within 4 days of receiving the UPC, visit your nearest Jio Store for carrying out further formalities of Sim porting.
(The UPC will expire after 4 days. If you fail to complete the process of porting within these 4 days, then, you’ll have to regenerate a new UPC by again sending the same “PORT” message on 1900.)
Step 4: At the Jio Store, the Jio executive will give you a Customer Application Form (CAF). And you have to appropriately fill it by providing all the correct details.
Step 5: After filling out the form, the Jio executive will ask you to provide your address proof and a passport-sized photograph to complete the biometric and document verification.
(For Address Proof, you have to carry any government verified ID. It can be your Aadhar Card, Pan Card, Voter ID card, or Driving License).
Step 6: After the verification is over, the retailer will give you a new Jio Sim. You have to pay the minimum porting charges to the retailer. And wait for 5 to 7 working days till your Jio Sim gets activated.
Call Method
Step 1: Open the dialer app on your phone and give a call to 1900.
Step 2: You’ll receive a UPC code of about 8 digits. Save it and visit the nearest Jio with the UPC code before it expires.
Step 3: At the Jio Store, the customer care executive will guide you with further formalities like filling Customer Application Form (CAF) and document verification.
Step 4: Provide your address proof and passport-sized photograph to the Jio representative. If you have an active POSTPAID plan with your current Sim, then you’ll be asked to show your last paid bill. So, carry the bill along.
Step 5: After the verification, you’ll be handed over the new Jio Sim card. Pay the porting fees and your Sim will get activated within 5 to 7 working days.
First recharge after porting to Jio
Jio offers a range of affordable to feature-rich recharge plans to its new subscribers. If you want to port your existing sim to Jio or you’ve ported to Jio recently, then you must know the basic first recharge plans of the telecom operator. Initially, you have to choose whether you want a Postpaid plan or a Prepaid plan.
